Not necessarily. You can book directly as a private client without a referral. However, if you’re accessing exercise physiology through Medicare (under a Chronic Disease Management Plan), DVA, or WorkCover QLD, you will need a referral from your GP. NDIS clients do not require a referral if sessions are part of their approved plan.
Yes. Many private health insurance policies with extras cover include exercise physiology. If you have a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) from your GP, you may also be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to five sessions per calendar year. Additionally, funding is available for eligible clients through WorkCover QLD, DVA, and NDIS.
Exercise physiologists are university-trained Allied Health professionals with a clinical focus. Unlike personal trainers, they specialise in using exercise as a tool to manage and treat chronic illnesses, injuries, and physical conditions. They work with clients who have complex needs and create safe, medically-informed programs tailored to long-term rehabilitation and health outcomes.
Absolutely. Scottvale Health Club is an NDIS-registered provider, and our exercise physiologists have extensive experience working with individuals under all types of NDIS plans (self-, plan-, and agency-managed). We develop movement programs focused on improving strength, function, independence, and community participation.
