Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral for counselling?

No referral is required for private sessions. You can contact us directly to book. If you’re accessing counselling through NDIS, DVA, or WorkCover, certain documentation or approvals may be needed, which we can guide you through step-by-step.

Is counselling covered by private health or Medicare?

Some private health funds provide rebates for counselling, depending on your policy. Medicare rebates are not generally available for counselling unless accessed through specific programs or referrals via your GP. We can help you check your entitlements before you start.

What issues can counselling help with?

Counselling can assist with a wide variety of concerns, including mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and PTSD; managing grief and loss; coping with relationship breakdowns or family conflict; addressing workplace stress; and navigating changes in health, employment, or lifestyle.

Can NDIS participants access counselling?

Yes. We work with all NDIS plan types to provide counselling that builds emotional resilience, coping strategies, and social skills. Our counsellor also collaborates with support coordinators to ensure your sessions align with your broader NDIS goals.

What happens in a counselling session?

Sessions are client-led, meaning you can discuss whatever is most pressing for you. Your counsellor will listen, ask thoughtful questions, and offer strategies or tools to help you manage challenges. Over time, you’ll work together to build skills that support long-term mental wellbeing.

Is counselling suitable for children and teens?

Yes. We provide age-appropriate counselling for young people, helping them navigate emotional challenges, school pressures, friendships, and changes in family life. Our approach is supportive and engaging, encouraging open communication.

Do you offer group or individual counselling sessions?

Currently, we provide one-on-one sessions for personalised care. While we may offer small group workshops in the future, our focus is on giving clients undivided attention and tailored support.
